Has the iPad changed anything?
Has the iPad brought anything new to our life? Of course, it has. First of all, the iPad is a device of a new category. There had been no middle gadget between a laptop and a smartphone before, and now there is. But the whole revolutionism of the Apple’s tablet has been greatly overhyped.
It must be admitted that the iPad is far from being perfect. Right after its launch the customers had to state with disappointment the lack of multitasking and a camera, the impossibility of watching flash video and organizing the documents in files and folders. In addition, some people were disappointed by the fact the iPad is running a mobile iOS, just as the iPhone, and not a “real” OS. At the same time there are a lot of people who like the iPad very much and who have already got hooked on it.
The iPad was first of all catered for people who don’t expect from the tablet anything excess, for example, that it would be able to replace a laptop or even a PC. It is a gadget devoid of complex functions and designed mainly for entertainment and performing simple tasks. Everyone admits that the iPad is perfect for browsing the Web, reading, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, viewing and editing photos. It consumes far less energy than a laptop and works for almost 10 hours without charging.
They say the iPad means a new era for publishing of magazines, newspapers and books. But actually, before the iPad, the Internet had greatly changed this industry already. Many people have already got used to reading magazines and newspapers on-line for free. So why would people overpay for subscriptions to the iPad versions of the same periodicals, is not clear yet. And besides, the iPad’s display does not feature e-ink technology, and so it’s not perfect for long reading.
If the iPad featured a camera, no doubt that video-chatting on it would become very popular. Also a camera would make it possible to get the most of the Augmented Reality applications.
More, Apple is often being criticized for not supplying styluses with the iPad as a unit. However, some businesslike people have already gained from this by producing and selling styluses for the iPad separately.
